TESTING LABORATORY SERVICES

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01     DESCRIPTION

A.         General:
Owner may employ the services of an independent Testing Laboratory to perform specified testing. Costs of such services shall be borne by the contractor.
1.   Contractor shall cooperate with laboratory to facilitate the execution of its required services.

3. Each Specification Section listed: Laboratory tests required, and standards for testing.

1.02     DUTIES OF THE INDEPENDENT TEST LABORATORY

A.         Provide an adequate and acceptable plant and calibrated equipment to perform the required testing services.

B.         Develop quality procedures for all required tests.

C.        Perform \specified sampling and testing of materials and methods of construction.
1.   Comply with specified sampling and testing samples.
2.   Ascertain compliance of materials with requirements of Contract Documents.
4.   Promptly notify OWNER and Contractor of observed irregularities or deficiencies of work or products.
5.   Maintain accurate and complete records of all tests performed and promptly submit the original and copies of the certified test report to the Contractor and one copy to the OWNER. Each test report shall include, as a minimum, the following:
a) Date of issue.
b) Project title and number.
c) Testing laboratory name, address and telephone number.
d) Name and signature of laboratory inspector.
e) Date and time of sampling or inspection.
f) Record of temperature and weather conditions.
g) Date of test.
h) Identification of product and specification section.
i) Location of sample of test in the Project.
j) Type of inspection or test.
k) Results of tests and all test data in compliance with Contract Documents.
l) Interpretation of test results, when requested by Engineer/OWNER.
6.         Each report shall be conspicuously stamped on the cover sheet in large red letters a
specification requirements as the case may be. All test reports shall be signed by a representative of the testing laboratory authorized to sign certified test reports. The Contractor shall arrange for immediate and direct delivery of the signed original of all reports, certification, and other documentation to the OWNER.
7.         Provide access to facilities and records to the OWNER and the Contractor at all reasonable times for the purpose of verifying qualifications of personnel, suitability of equipment, adequacy of methods, analysis of results and reporting methods.
8.         Prior to final payment provide a tabulation of all tests it has performed in connection with the construction contract, including conforming, non-conforming, and repeated test results. The tabulation(s) shall be certified as completed, and signed by the representative of the laboratory, and a copy shall be delivered to the OWNER.
9.         Perform additional tests as required by the OWNER.

1.03     LIMITATIONS OF AUTHORITY OF TESTING LABORATORY

A.         Laboratory is not authorized to:
1. Release, revoke, alter or enlarge on requirements of Contract Documents.
2. Approve or accept any portion of the Work.
3. Perform any duties of the Contractor.

B.         Secure and deliver to the laboratory adequate quantities of representational samples of materials proposed to be used and which require testing.

C.        Provide to the laboratory the preliminary design mix proposed to be used for concrete, and other materials mixes which require control by the testing laboratory.

D.        Furnish copies of products test reports as required.

E.         Furnish incidental labor and facilities:
1.   To provide access to Work to be tested.
2.   To obtain and handle samples at the Project site or at the source of the product to be tested.
3.   To facilitate inspections and tests.
4.   For storage and curing of test samples.

F.         Notify laboratory sufficiently in advance of operations to allow for laboratory assignment of personnel and scheduling of tests.
1.   When tests or inspections cannot be performed after such notice, reimburse
negligence.



G.        Employ and pay for the services of a separate, equally qualified independent testing laboratory to perform additional inspections, sampling and testing required.
