COORDINATION
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY

1.02 CONSTRUCTION ORGANIZATION AND START-UP
A. Contractor’s Agent shall establish on-site lines of
authority and communications:
1. Schedule and conduct reconstruction meeting and progress meetings
as specifies in section 01312.
2. Establish procedures for inter-project communications:
a. Submittals.
b. Reports and records.
c. Recommendations.
d. Coordination drawings.
e. Schedules.
f. Resolution of conflicts.
3. Interpret contract
documents:
a. Consult with consultant to obtain interpretation.
b. Assist in resolution of question or conflicts which may arise.
c. Transmit written interpretations to subcontractors, and to other
concerned parties.
4. Assist in obtaining
permits and approvals:
a. Building permits and special permits required for work or for
temporary facilities.
b. Verify that subcontractors have obtained inspections for work and
for temporary facilities.
5. Control the use of site:
Where the work of one subcontractor
will be installed in close proximity to work of other trades or where there is
evidence that the work of the onr will interfere with work of others, he still
assist in working out space conditions to make a satisfactory adjustment.
1.03 CONTRACTOR’S
AGENT’S DUTIES
A. Construction
programs
1. Prepare
a detailed program of basic operations for all subcontractors:
a. Each
subcontractor shall prepare sub-programs to comply with critical phases.
2. Monitor
programs as work progresses:
a. Identify
potential variances between programs and probable completion dates for each
phase.
b. Recommend
to Owner adjustments in programs to meet required completion dates.
c. Adjust
programs of sub contractors as required.
d. Document
changes in program submit to Owner Engineer and to involved sub-contractor.
3. Observe
work of each sub-contractor to monitor compliance with program:
a. Verify
that labor and equipment are adequate for the work and the program.
b. Verify
that product procurement programs are adequate.
c. Verify
that product deliveries are adequate to maintain program.
d. Report
non-compliance to Owner, with recommendation for changes.
B. Process
shop drawings, product data and samples:
1. Prior
to submittal to Engineer review for compliance with contract documents:
a. Site
dimensions and clearance dimensions.
b. Relation
to available space.
c. Relation
to other contracts and to other trades.
d. Effect
of any changes on the work of any other contracts or other trades.
C. Prepare
coordination drawings as required or if directed by the Engineer to resolve
conflicts and to assure coordination of the work of or affected by mechanical
and electrical trades, or by special equipment requirements. Scale not less
than 1:50.
1. Submit
to Engineer.
2. Reproduce
and distribute copies to concerned parties after Engineer review.
D. Inspection
and testing:
1. Inspect
work to assure performance in accordance with requirements of contract
documents.
2. Administer
special testing and inspections of suspect work.
3. Reject
work which does not comply with requirements of contract documents.
4. Coordinate
testing laboratory services:
a. Verify
that required laboratory personnel are present.
b. Verify
that tests are made in accordance with specified standards.
c. Review
test reports for compliance with specified criteria.
d. Recommend
and administer any required retesting.
E. Monitor
the use temporary utilities:
1. Verify
that adequate services are provided and maintained.
F. Monitor
subcontractor’s periodic cleaning:
1. Enforce
compliance with specifications.
2. Resolve
any conflicts.
G. Change
and substitutions:
1. Recommend
necessary or desirable changes to Owner and Engineer.
2. Review
subcontractor’s requests for changes and substitutions; submit recommendations
to Owner and to engineer.
3. Assist
Engineer in negotiating variation orders.
4. Promptly
notify all subcontractors of pending changes or substitutions.
H. Maintain
Reports and records at job site available to Engineer and Owner.
1. Daily
log of progress of work of each subcontractor.
2. Records:
a. Subcontracts.
b. Purchase
orders
c. Materials
and equipment records.
d. Applicable
handbook codes and standards.
3. Obtain
information from subcontractors, and maintain file of record documents.
4. Assemble
documentation for handling of claims and disputes.
1.04 CONTRACTOR’S
AGENT’S CLOSE-OUT DUTIES
A. Mechanical
and electrical equipment start-up:
1. Coordinate
check-out of utilities, operational systems and equipment.
2. Assist
in initial start-up and testing.
3. Record
dates of start of operation of systems and equipment.
4. Submit
to Owner written notice of beginning of guarantee period for equipment put into
service.
B. At
completion of work of each subcontract, conduct an inspection to a assure that:
1. Specified
cleaning has been accomplished.
2. Supervise
correction and completion of work as established in certificate of substantial
completion.
D. Final
completion:
1. When
each subcontractor determines that work is finally complete conduct an
inspection to verify completion of work.
2. Assist
Engineer in inspection.
E. Administration
of contract close-out:
1. Receive
and review subcontractor’s final submittals.
2. Transmit
to Engineer with recommendations for action.
F. Notes
on drawings:
The
technical / general Notes indicated on Engineering drawings are to be read in
continuation with the contractual terms of this contract.
