Main Responsibilities
The job is highly challenging, involving dedication, high quality legal expertise & professional approach: the responsibilities include supervision/management of Advisory Wing (Law Department); management/conduct of Government litigation, including examination, drafting 8, vetting of legal documents relating to litigation; interpretation of Constitution, legislation and legal instruments; legal advice/opinion on assorted legal issues, including service matters; scrutiny of judicial decisions for purposes of appeal, revision or review; legal research; preparation/drafting of concept papers, summaries & other correspondence; and, administrative matters including accounts and finances.
Qualification & Experience
(a) Ph.D (Law), or LL.M, or Bar-at-Law or LL.B (50./0 marks on the aggregate), or equivalent qualification from a reputed University/Institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission; and (b) in case of LLB., and Bar-at-Law, 15 years; in case of LL.M, 13 years; and, in case of Ph.D, 10 years' (i) active practice as Advocate High Court; or (ii) experience as judicial officer; or (iii) experience as Law Officer in public or private sector of repute; or (iv) experience of legal research; or (v) the aggregate of experiences at (i) to (iv); or (vi) six years' experience as Additional Director (Advisory Wing) in the Law and Parliamentary Department ores Additional Solicitor. OR A former/retired District & Sessions Judge with 12 years judicial experience. Note: Preference shall be given to a person who: (a) has 6 years' experience of working in the Law & PA Department, Solicitor's Office or Federal Law Division; and (b) has satisfactory knowledge of Microsoft office and other related computer applications. ---IIr— Age & Tenure
40-55 years; however, there is no upper age limit in case of a former/retired District and Sessions Judge. The post is permanent but the appointment, subject to medical fitness and police verification, shall be made on contract (under the Contract Employment Policy) for an iii.tial period of two years, which may, subject to satisfactory performance, be extended.
Pay Package
Pay package will be market driven; and, shall be determined in the light of qualifications, experience and capabilities of the selected candidate. It may range up to MP-II scale.
